The Maniq people of southern Thailand live as mobile hunter-gatherers in the montane forests of Satun, Trang and Phatthalung Provinces. Like many hunter-gatherers in the present era, deforestation and broader social and political changes have had a significant impact on  the traditional areas in which Maniq have lived.
